J.Dakar

J.Dakar is on it…if you don’t know about him, you soon will. Promise! Thankfully he was able to bless us with his thoughts for our 10.5 interview series! Peep game and be amazed.

KJtheGreat: What’s your name, where you from, and what’s your claim to fame?
J. Dakar: J. Dakar. Born in Florida and raised in Alabama. I’m the young, gifted and black southern gentleman who’s been hooking you up with social and political pieces at Concrete Loop.

KJ: What do you have going on right now?
J.D: I’m about to graduate from one of the nation’s best liberal arts colleges, although hardly anyone has ever heard of it when I mention it — Birmingham-Southern College. I’ll be launching my new website, JDakar.com, in a few days, in addition to writing at my other one, Write State of Mind, and my work at Concrete Loop. I have another thing or two that I can’t really discuss just yet.

KJ: What projects do you have proposed for the future?
J.D: I’m going to launch the do good and do well (DGADW) movement. I’m in the planning stages of two books, and we’re also working on something big at Concrete Loop.

KJ: What do you want people to know about you?
J.D: I love music…pretty much all kinds and I’m always looking for songs to add to my collection. I like meeting new people…social networking sites make it very easy these days. I don’t play basketball, despite being 6′5″. My pinkies are crooked and if I put them together, they make a perfect heart…the girls always thought that was cute. And yes, ladies, I’m single.

KJ: What DON’T people know about you?
J.D: Everything I don’t want them to know.

KJ: What’s your favorite color and why?
J.D: My favorite color is black. It’s classic, stylish and timeless. Plus, there’s so many other things that “Black Is“.

KJ: What do you hope your legacy will be?
J.D: That I did good and did well (DGADW).

KJ: What was your last sneaker purchase?
J.D: I bought my brother a pair of Air Max 90s a few weeks ago. I wanted the Nike Black Reflector Pack myself, but haven’t been able to find ‘em in my size.

KJ: What’s the last cd you purchased?
J.D: The last CD I purchased was Lauryn Hill’s MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 in June 2002. I remember that specifically because it was during freshman orientation. The last CD I acquired, however, was The Roots’ Rising Down.

KJ: In your opinion, Is the South killing hip-hop culture?
J.D No. Crappy crappers…I mean “rappers”…are killing hip-hop and they’re from all over the place. You know who you are!

10.5: Any shout outs?
J.D: God, of course, for his continued blessings; my family for their support; Angel for this great opportunity along with the rest of the CL Crew; all the readers of my words at Concrete Loop, Write State of Mind and soon-to-be JDakar.com: I sincerely appreciate the love; everyone who’s out there trying to do good and do well (DGADW); and KJ & BRWN DRBY for being patient. Be well and behave.
Digg!
