We got new friends! Well a new acquaintances that we hope will become our friends. But we ARE friends on MySpace so that’s got to count for something! Anyway, if you are a streetwear fan living in the Charlotte area, or a streetwear fan visiting Charlotte, then you need to pick this magazine up. Big up’s to Camila! Please visit BLU MAGAZINE! They pretty much only profile people from Charlotte which is cool but that means: 1) The Brown Derby might not get profiled in there mag and 2) you non-traveling losers will never get to read this magazine–you know, cause yall don’t travel. Oh, and they throw parties for each magazine’s release…awesome, right? I’m totally going to the next party hopefully. But it really is a great read and I think you should check it out…cause Cold Stone said so!
Nas is giving FOX 5 the business! Seen on Hypebeast today…quoted from HB:
With the release of “Sly Fox” on his most recent album, it’s clear that Nas has it out for Newschannel Fox 5. Today, the hip hop artist held a press conference in New York, calling Fox a propaganda machine that regulates the news against black community leaders and hip-hop artists. With the possibility of having the first black president in the White House, the most evident case is the disparaging remarks made against the Obamas. Artist development powerhouse “Best of Both Offices” was on hand to tape the conference. A petition of 600,000 signatures was refused by Fox 5.
Most of you have NEVER seen the website (a good read if I say so myself) so let me introduce to you the book. Mixed reviews so far but I’m definately going to check it out, just to see what’s going to be in it. Be warned, if you don’t have a good sense of humor…don’t even bother going. Especially if you’re White and you don’t have a good sense of humor–it’s a wrap!
I peep’d the first video on Niketalk a lil while ago and it brought back good memories of when big artist/labels would collab. Seems like now for every hot song I hear theres a artist complainin on a interview/skit about how the next guy’s work is killing the game blah blah. We here at the haberdashery appreciate the love and support we’ve been gettin from other brands/companies on the streetwear scene. Its good to know there are successful people in the game that are still humble enough to reach out. Please believe we will be doing the same. Hopefully I will see this trend spread across industrys in the near future.

This weekend marks the return of the Marion (SC) FoxTrot Festival. The FotTrot is a non-profit company started in 1991 that tries to promote the city of Marion and Historic Marion County. It’s a big deal. If you are in the area you should definately check it out. Thanks Miyosha for the info!
